The density of trichomes, although difficult to assess visually, is crucial; quality hashish feels dense and full of resin. Finally, purity is crucial: avoid products with fillers. Although tricky when shopping outside reputable dispensaries, looking for hashish that has passed laboratory analysis can ensure it is free of contaminants.

The question often arises as to whether hashish and pollen are the same product or whether there are key differences between them. The term “pollen” is used colloquially to refer to the resin that is collected directly from the cannabis plant, in its natural state and without undergoing any treatment or compaction process. Hashish, on the other hand, is created from this pollen by compacting it into tablets or hashish balls. This compaction not only alters the physical form of the product but can also intensify its potency and aroma, making hash a preferred choice for many users seeking a more concentrated experience. Both share the same origin but differ in their presentation and the intensity of their effects due to the compaction process the pollen undergoes to become hashish.
